I live in Woodbridge, and I am seeking a Personal Assistant to support me both in my home and out and about. I am a wheelchair user.

I would like my Personal Assistant to take me out and drive my minibus to take me to appointments, occasionally pick up medication from the chemist, take me shopping and to lunch. I would also like my Personal Assistant to support me to visit my Autistic son, who I look after.

My Personal Assistant will be required to support me with housework. When I am having a bad day, my Personal Assistant will be required to support me in the shower.

My Personal Assistant will also be required to walk, clean up after and support me to wash my small dog.

I do not smoke, so a non-smoker is required for this role. The successful candidate will be responsible to me as the employer.

 

11 hours available per week

As a Support Worker employed within the home, you will be joining a loving, warm and friendly household committed to the development of the cared for. The successful candidate will become a valued and important member of the family, playing a vital role within family life.  

The successful candidate will be utilised within the home primarily to support the child at playtime, playing with toys, carrying out activities, and reading his favourite books. At times the Support Worker will also be required to help with mealtime and snack-eating. Due to the working patterns of the parents, the Support Worker will be supported by parents but must be responsible for the child alone when required. 

 

10 hours per week

Term time: 4 weekdays from 5:00pm to 7:30pm

School holiday: Suitable hours between 10am and 4pm

I am a 31-year-old man who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy. I am quite a socially active person; I enjoy the cinema and watching films on TV. I’m a big sports fan (my main sport is football and I go to watch Ipswich Town home and away).  I also enjoy listening to music and going to concerts. I am in part time employment which I juggle with a part time University course.  

I’m friendly, patient, & intelligent.  (I am told that I am very easy to get on with and my current pool of PAs all enjoy seeing me). 

While the offered role is temporary, it may lead to a permanent position for the right candidate who can provide reliable assistance. I am looking to find someone I can become friendly with and who can provide social and personal care to support me with my morning and night routine. It would also be helpful to have relief cover to my support team when they are on holiday / annual leave or sickness, but this is not imperative.  

Should there be many successful applicants, the job will allow for job-sharing; Please advise me of your availability for mornings and/ or evenings, so this can be taken into consideration. 

 

This is a temporary role to start immediately, which may lead to a permanent position

The focus of the position is to help support the cared for within a companion capacity to help with his hobbies and being active in the community. This is a fantastic and rewarding opportunity to support this man’s wellbeing through enjoying his interests in the wider community.  

The candidate will report to the employer, a friend of the supported. Hours will take place for 4hrs per day between Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, with an additional hour on one day.
